Create a Beautiful Quilt from a Lovely Color Palette

Batiks Add Artistic Flair!
An intricate design and inspired color choices produce a beautiful quilt you’ll be glad to call your own. Smaller-scale batiks produce gradations of color within the pieces, softening the design and adding texture to the quilt.
The design was inspired by vintage architectural ironwork. While it looks complex, it’s actually made up of squares and half-square triangles along with some stitch-and-flipĀ pieces. None of it is difficult, but take your time and make sure the points all line up nicely.
A variegated quilting thread works beautifully with the design and colors. It’s a lovely finishing touch.
Designer Kate Colleran provides instructions for two quilt sizes:
- Lap (or Throw) Quilt – 60 ½” x 73″
- Queen Quilt – 92″ x 92″
