Turn Scraps Into Pretty Hot Pads

They’re Both Charming and Functional Kitchen Accents!
Protect your counters with charming hot pads made from scraps. They’re so easy to make and wonderful in any color palette.
Plus, they can easily be enlarged into place mats, a table centerpiece, large pot holders, and more. Simply start with larger pieces of batting and backing.
The hot pads are constructed with Quilt-As-You-Go. That makes them extra quick and easy, as does the no-binding finish. UseĀ Insul-Bright for the batting to make them heat-proof.
Chelsea from Sew Simple Home provides both a written tutorial and a video showing how they’re constructed. Note that the specified batting size is different between the two. Go with the size in the written instructions (6″ square) to allow for the backing to be 1/2″ larger on all sides (7″ square). The completed hot pad is about 6″ square.
