It’s The First of Several in the RBD Block Challenge!

The first block of the 2026 RBD Block Challenge is this charmer designed by Lori Holt. It’s a lovely block that can take on many different looks depending on color and value placements.

The version below, by Kimberly from Fat Quarter Shop, is made from the Farmer’s Daughter fabrics designed by Lori (available here while supplies last). However, fabric from any line will be charming, or create a nice selection from your stash.

Every year, Riley Blake designers create blocks for a quilt block quilt-along (aka the Block Challenge). You can make one block for use in any project or all of them for their sampler quilt. Either way, it’s a good opportunity to build your block library and perhaps learn new skills (learn more about the 2026 Block Challenge here and find all of the free block patterns here).

PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest does not sell or otherwise provide patterns directly. We showcase patterns and projects from various vendors, bloggers and other sources. Please make a note of where you access a pattern (the link in the yellow box toward the end of each Quilting Digest article). That way you can contact Support for that source if you have downloading problems or other issues. Thank you!
