Weave Fabric Strips Into a Charming Basket
August 5, 2016 | Fabric Baskets, Bowls, and Boxes, Projects for Scraps
| A Great Use of Leftover Fabric!
Strips of 2 1/2″ fabric turn into a lovely basket when fortified with interfacing and woven together. The designer used a packet of pre-cut Bali batiks for her version. Whatever jelly roll strips you have on hand are sure to be just as charming.
The process mimics the baskets you may have seen made from woven paper, only the result is more delightful, don’t you think? After all, it’s easy to love just about anything made with gorgeous fabric.
In addition to the fabric strips you’ll need fusible interfacing and fusible web to complete this project.
The tutorial, from Atkinson Designs, is clearly illustrated. Be sure to read through the comments for a few clarifying points.
PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest has featured many patterns from vendors participating in the Craftsy Marketplace, most of which have been deleted by Craftsy. It's going to take awhile for us to hunt down new sources for those patterns. In the meantime there are many links to patterns on our site that no longer work. We apologize if this article contains one or more of those links and appreciate your patience while we straighten things out. Thank you!
PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest does not sell or otherwise provide patterns directly. We showcase patterns and projects from various vendors, bloggers and other sources. Please make a note of where you access a pattern (the link in the yellow box toward the end of each Quilting Digest article). That way you can contact Support for that source if you have downloading problems or other issues. Thank you!

The basket idea is adorable. What an interesting use for jelly rolls.
Hi Betty. Thanks for letting me know. The link is working now. It could be the site was down temporarily (that happens to every website on occasion!). Try it again and let me know if it’s still not working for you.
