Or, Display This Gorgeous Quilt All Year Round!

Simple fussy cuts from a beautiful fabric form the tile-like centers of the blocks in this lovely quilt. The rich colors take on a gem-like quality when showcased against the neutral beige background, making this a special quilt for Christmas or any time of year.

Fussy cutting, where you isolate a motif in the fabric and repeat it to create new patterns, is really quite easy (find great pointers here). It will take a bit longer to cut pieces for a full quilt, but the end result is well worth it.

Holiday Sparkle

This pattern is a great one to try this technique on, as the pieces are large and it won’t take many for the entire quilt. However, if fussy cutting seems like too much, then simply showcase a striking fabric in the block centers. The end result will be equally lovely.

The pattern, from designers Chloe Anderson and Colleen Reale for American Patchwork & Quilting, produces a quilt that is 64 1⁄2″ square. You can easily alter the size by adjusting the number of blocks used. In fact, three blocks in a row would make a charming table runner.
