Experienced Quilters Can Replicate This Quilt
Have Fun Creating Your Own Version With This Interesting Quilt Block!
This beautiful “1930s Reproduction Pinwheel Quilt” was made by Jen Ivey of QuiltsClothsCovers (here’s her Etsy shop). It’s charming, homey and tugs at the nostalgia heartstrings, reminding us of quilts made by our moms and grandmothers.
While we don’t have a complete pattern, instructions for making the block are available (many thanks to Mary Hagberg for hunting this down!).
The block, called “Double Star”, is fairly easy to make, although you will want some piecing experience under your belt. Cutting instructions are provided for 4 block sizes.
Make however many blocks you need for the quilt size you want, add sashing strips and cornerstones, and a piano key border. We do not have exact instructions but you can see how it is put together from the picture.
The blocks aren’t difficult but they are a bit fussy. The tutorial found here will help.
Update: Jen has generously informed us that the pattern she used for her gorgeous quilt is called “Pinwheel Star.” You can get it here.
