Simplified Block Construction Means No Curved Piecing!

Traditional Drunkard’s Quilt blocks take on the look of flowers blowing in the breeze in this lovely quilt. The reproduction prints add to its charm, although it will be wonderful in modern prints as well.

Change the flavor of the quilt by selecting batiks, large modern prints or even plaids and ginghams. Whatever combination you choose is sure to be beautiful.

Whirligigs Quilt Pattern

Many quilters shy away from Drunkard’s Path quilts because of the traditional curved piecing. However, this version can be made very easily with applique. The following video shows you how that works. You’ll use the instructions in the pattern but Jenny shows how easy it will be to put the blocks together.

Of course, you can do curved piecing if you prefer. Mastering curved piecing will open up a whole world of beautiful quilt designs. Here’s a tutorial to help you.

The finished quilt is 58″ x 74″.

PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest has featured many patterns from vendors participating in the Craftsy Marketplace, most of which have been deleted by Craftsy. It's going to take awhile for us to hunt down new sources for those patterns. In the meantime there are many links to patterns on our site that no longer work. We apologize if this article contains one or more of those links and appreciate your patience while we straighten things out. Thank you!

PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest does not sell or otherwise provide patterns directly. We showcase patterns and projects from various vendors, bloggers and other sources. Please make a note of where you access a pattern (the link in the yellow box toward the end of each Quilting Digest article). That way you can contact Support for that source if you have downloading problems or other issues. Thank you!
