Create a Striking Quilt with Bands of Color

Brighten Your Home or Use it for Picnics and Outdoor Activities!

Bands of crayon colors alternate with white for a fun and cheerful quilt. While it’s great for picnics and days at the beach, it also will brighten your home on gray days. Drape it over the sofa or your favorite chair for a welcome splash of color.

This is a great project for using scraps and other fabrics from your stash. The coordinated scrappy look is achieved by using many prints in a rainbow of colors.

Of course, the quilt will be charming in other color themes. Also, consider using another background instead of white to set off the prints you choose. For example, black or deep gray with a variety of autumn colors will produce a striking variation.

This is an easy quilt to make and beginners will appreciate that there are no points to match. Click on the layout chart in the tutorial (shown below) to enlarge it and easily read the dimensions.

PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest has featured many patterns from vendors participating in the Craftsy Marketplace, most of which have been deleted by Craftsy. It's going to take awhile for us to hunt down new sources for those patterns. In the meantime there are many links to patterns on our site that no longer work. We apologize if this article contains one or more of those links and appreciate your patience while we straighten things out. Thank you!

PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest does not sell or otherwise provide patterns directly. We showcase patterns and projects from various vendors, bloggers and other sources. Please make a note of where you access a pattern (the link in the yellow box toward the end of each Quilting Digest article). That way you can contact Support for that source if you have downloading problems or other issues. Thank you!
