Create a Striking Quilt with This Easy Block
Play with Color Gradations to Make It Yours!
This striking block is a great way to use up some of those scraps you have on hand. Make a mini quilt, pillow, wall hanging, table runner, or even a full-size quilt.
The crayon-colored gradation created by the designer is both eye-catching and cheerful. However, any color theme will be wonderful in this block. A coloring sheet is provided so you can try various ideas.
Sew together four or more blocks to create a lattice effect that emphasizes the color gradations. This is a fun block that provides many options depending on the colors you choose.
While the block is made using foundation paper piecing, no experience is required to achieve great results. This pattern is perfect for beginners (find excellent FPP instructions here).
The designer, Mariesa Morgan from Ten Cow Quilts, provides instructions for four block sizes:
- 4″ finished (4 1/2″ unfinished)
- 5″ finished (5 1/2″ unfinished)
- 6″ finished (6 1/2″ unfinished)
- 8″ finished (8 1/2″ unfinished)
