Create a Tote in a Flash with Strip Sets
They Make Lovely Gifts and Pretty Storage!
These cute totes are super easy to make and fun to give. Fill one with treasures the recipient will enjoy for a quick gift for any occasion. Kids and teens will love them as well as adults.
Make one or more for yourself to carry quilting tools and supplies. Or hang them in the sewing room and elsewhere around the house to help keep things organized.
Strip sets make these bags so easy to complete and they go together quickly. Start with nine 2 1/2″ strips for each bag. The bags are lined with strip sets instead of traditional lining and French seams finish the insides.
While you can use coordinating strips from a favorite jelly roll, this is a great project for using leftovers from your stash. Save a pretty contrasting strip for the ruffle around the top (or omit that if you want).
The completed bags, designed by Valerie Smith of Pumpkin Patch Quilter for American Patchwork and Quilting are 8-1⁄2″ × 10-1⁄4″ × 3-1⁄2″.
