Create Festive No-Sew Ornaments from Scraps
You’ll Love How Easy They Are To Make!
Turn fabric scraps into festive ornaments with an easy no-sew technique. They’re quick, fun to make, and lovely on the tree. They also make charming gifts and stocking stuffers.
A simplified version of the traditional Japanese doll-making technique called kimekomi is used to make the ornaments. It involves tucking pieces of fabric into grooves cut in 3″ Foam Balls.
Give your ornaments a scrappy look or coordinate them around a color theme. Finish them off with a perky ribbon and bow.
Once you get started you may find them addictive. And, you can expand the technique into more complex designs or add beads, lace, and other embellishments. You’ll find several beautiful examples here and here.
Julia from Bayhill Studio provides excellent instructions to get you started. You’ll find the 3″ foam balls she recommends here.
