Omit the Strap for a Table Centerpiece!

Bring the “luck of the Irish” to your home with this charming patchwork four-leaf clover. Hang it on a door or wall with the optional hanging strap. Or display it on a table to set a festive mood for St. Patrick’s Day dinner.

Gather some of your favorite green prints from your stash and use strip-piecing to make nine-patch blocks. Once they’re combined, lay them on batting and quilt as desired. The four-leaf clover is cut from the quilted patchwork.

In the example, the four-leaf clover cutout was fused and the edges sewn down to a piece of linen. The linen background was trimmed 1/2″ away from the patchwork, and the edges sealed with Fray Check.

An alternative option is to bind the edges. That will work best if you don’t trim the background deeply between the leaves and around the stem. Instead, round the background off in those areas. You’ll find great tips for binding projects with irregular edges here

You can also add Insul-Bright batting and use your creation as a trivet.

The instructions provided by Pat Bravo, writing for We All Sew, produce a four-leaf clover that is roughly 17″ wide.
