Lovely Traditional Quilt for Summer and Beyond
This Quilt Will be Charming in Any Type of Fabric!
This traditional design will look great in just about any style and color of fabric. It’s perfect for 2 1/2″ inch strips, perhaps from a jelly roll or you can cut your own. Just be sure to choose fabrics of similar value so the design contrasts with the background.
Small-print pastels give it a vintage summery look, as would repro fabrics. But we can easily imagine it made up in colors for other seasons.
Nine-patch blocks and snowball blocks combine in an intriguing overall design. This is super easy to stitch together. It will be a quick quilt for experienced quilters and a good starter quilt for beginners with basic skills.
The finished quilt, from designer Barb Mapes, is 66″ x 78″. It won’t be hard to make it larger or smaller by adjusting the number of rows. A series of accenting borders would be lovely and would make the quilt larger, as well.
