Make a Scrappy or Star Pumpkin Pot Holder

Choose between two styles for these charming pumpkin pot holders. Both are generously sized and will be lovely accents for your fall kitchen.

Start with scraps in autumn colors. Use a layer of cotton batting plus one of Insul-Bright batting to make them heatproof.

Scrappy Quilted Pumpkin Pot Holder Tutorial

The scrappy pumpkin version is made by sewing patches onto the batting. It’s a simple freeform process that yields different results every time.

A sawtooth star graces the center of the star version. It’s constructed like a quilt top, then layered and quilted.

They are both cut from the same pumpkin template and are finished off with bias binding. Designer Stacey Lee provides excellent video demonstrations for each potholder, which are 11¾” x 6″ once completed.
