One Block Makes a Beautiful Table Mat!
This pretty star block will be lovely in just about any project. Make one into a small table topper, three sewn end to end into a runner, four sewn into a square for a larger topper or wall quilt and more into a full sized quilt.
Christmas fabrics make it perfect for a holiday table mat. Simply layer, quilt and bind the block for a topper that is about 15″ square.
Of course, the star will be pretty in other colors as well, so it’s not just for the holidays. Whatever color theme you want to use will be lovely.
The star block is paper pieced, although it could be made the traditional way as well. Paper piecing will give you the best accuracy and is so simple to do with this pattern.
This is something of a beginning pattern, meaning that it does not include a detailed tutorial. However it does include the paper piecing templates, directions, and a coloring page.
The instructions, from Tracey at Traceyjay Quilts, is for a 15″ finished block.
PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest has featured many patterns from vendors participating in the Craftsy Marketplace, most of which have been deleted by Craftsy. It's going to take awhile for us to hunt down new sources for those patterns. In the meantime there are many links to patterns on our site that no longer work. We apologize if this article contains one or more of those links and appreciate your patience while we straighten things out. Thank you!
PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest does not sell or otherwise provide patterns directly. We showcase patterns and projects from various vendors, bloggers and other sources. Please make a note of where you access a pattern (the link in the yellow box toward the end of each Quilting Digest article). That way you can contact Support for that source if you have downloading problems or other issues. Thank you!
