Start Fresh or Repurpose a Failed Rug!

When Staci from Crafty Staci made the popular Jelly Roll Rug, she didn’t realize how important it is to keep the rug flat while sewing it together. Consequently, her finished rug wouldn’t lie flat, no matter what she did with it.

What did she do? She put it in time-out, of course. After letting it sit for a while, she decided to tear out the stitching and make four placemats from the strips. They turned out beautifully.

Whether you’re starting from scratch or repurposing a failed rug attempt, placemats are beautiful when made with the Jelly Roll Rug technique. Since they’re small, it’s much easier to make a set that lies flat, too.
