Instructions Are Provided for Two Sizes!

This charming block will be beautiful in a small project or made in multiples for a larger quilt. It can take on many personalities depending on the fabrics you choose and value placements.

The block, designed by Lori Holt, is part of the Riley Blake Designs 2025 block challenge. Several designers have contributed blocks to be included in a beautiful sampler quilt. Learn more about the challenge and access all the free block patterns here.

The completed block is 10″ square, although Lori also provides instructions for a 20″ version. The cutting instructions found in the description below her video for one 20″ block are:  

  • A – Cut 8 – 3 1/2″ x 7 1/2″
  • B – Cut 8 – 3 1/2″ x 3 1/2″
  • C – Cut 4 – 3 1/2″ x 7 1/2″
  • D – Cut 4 – 3 1/2″ x 4 1/2″
  • E – Cut 1 – 8 1/2″ x 8 1/2″
  • F – Cut 8 – 3 1/2″ x 3 1/2″
  • G – Cut 4 – 3 1/2″ x 3 1/2″
