Make Something Special with This Graceful Hummingbird

It’s a Fun Project for Playing with Color!

This beautiful block is sure to impress regardless of what project you include it in. The graceful hummingbird can face either left or right and can be given dimension by creating gradations of value within the wing.

Choose between three block sizes and have fun deciding how to use the block. It will be lovely on the side of a tote or zipper bag. Finish it into a charming mini quilt. Incorporate it into another block. Add other blocks for a wall hanging. Or make several blocks for a quilt (you’ll find a free quilt pattern here).

For a more realistic look, create your hummingbird in traditional colors against a neutral background. Or make it any color you want and get creative with the background color and print style. You’ll find a lot of beautiful examples here to get you started.

PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest has featured many patterns from vendors participating in the Craftsy Marketplace, most of which have been deleted by Craftsy. It's going to take awhile for us to hunt down new sources for those patterns. In the meantime there are many links to patterns on our site that no longer work. We apologize if this article contains one or more of those links and appreciate your patience while we straighten things out. Thank you!

PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest does not sell or otherwise provide patterns directly. We showcase patterns and projects from various vendors, bloggers and other sources. Please make a note of where you access a pattern (the link in the yellow box toward the end of each Quilting Digest article). That way you can contact Support for that source if you have downloading problems or other issues. Thank you!
