Celebrate autumn every year with this beautiful quilt. Use it as a throw or smooth it over a plain spread on a bed for a colorful seasonal accent that brightens the space.

A beautiful appliqued and pieced center is framed with string blocks. While this is an excellent project for scraps, a wide variety of fat quarters is specified to achieve that charming scrappy look.

The quilt is constructed using machine piecing, appliqué, and foundation paper piecing methods. Note that the appliqué templates are reversed images for use with the starch method of freezer paper appliqué. You can reverse the templates for other applique methods.

Designer Carol Shriver from Makery on the Hill provides instructions for a 60″ x 60″ quilt. However, a smaller quilt can be made by deleting some or all of the string blocks. Or reduce the size further by omitting the X blocks to create a lovely wall hanging.

PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest does not sell or otherwise provide patterns directly. We showcase patterns and projects from various vendors, bloggers and other sources. Please make a note of where you access a pattern (the link in the yellow box toward the end of each Quilting Digest article). That way you can contact Support for that source if you have downloading problems or other issues. Thank you!
