Today’s Fabrics Will be Just as Stunning!

This beautiful antique quilt dates from 1893 and includes embroidered initials in the center, presumably of the quilt’s maker. A variety of novelty prints of the era are included in the light patches.

What caught our eye is the striking use of color. The red and tan (actually grayed green) accented with white seems just as modern as if the quilt were made today.

1893 Nine Patch Quilt Pattern

You can easily replicate this quilt for you collection. Whether or not you fussy cut novelty prints is up to you. Focus on the color theme and choose whatever fabrics you prefer.

The quilt will be lovely in other colors as well. Choose three complementary colors including a dark (in this case red), medium (green) and light.

The finished quilt is 81˝ x 81˝, although can easily adjust the size by adding or deleting blocks.
