These Dresden Plate Mug Rugs Are Super Easy
The Size and Proportions Can be Easily Customized!
Scraps in a rainbow of colors are put to good in these charming mug rugs (or coasters). This is a surprisingly simple project that goes together quickly.
Plus, the overall size, as well as the length of the blades, can be adjusted easily. Go larger for a candle mat or a centerpiece and play with the proportions to get the look you want.
Any color theme will be wonderful, as well, so choose what you enjoy most. Seasonal and holiday fabrics will also be great for this design.
Start by making a Dresden Plate, then stitch it down to felt (in this case, black). The felt makes for a quick finish. Choose wool felt or felted wool instead of kiddie craft felt for a longer wearing washable mug rug.
The designer, Terri Wilhelm from Terri’s Notebook, used the Easy Dresden Template for cutting the wedges (cut them to whatever length you prefer). Once the wedges are sewn together, measure the center and cut the circle to fit.
