The Quilt is Easy Enough for Beginners!

This stunning quilt is based on a crocheted blanket made with granny squares. The design easily translates to a beautiful quilt constructed from squares and half-square triangles.

A pair of Cardinals take on a homespun look against a gingham-style background. Whether you choose brilliant colors or a more subdued palette the resulting quilt will surely be noticed and admired.

Hang it on a wall or drape it over the sofa for cool-weather snuggling. It will also be beautiful layered on top of a simple bedspread.

It would be fun to switch out blues for the reds and turn the Cardinals into Blue Jays. The quilt will be just as impressive and eye-catching.

Liz LePage for Connecting Threads created the quilt based on the blanket designed by While They Dream. The completed quilt is about 52″ x 60″.

However, it’s super easy to adjust the size. Simply enlarge or reduce the starting squares. Learn more about the quilt and how to change the size here.

PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest has featured many patterns from vendors participating in the Craftsy Marketplace, most of which have been deleted by Craftsy. It's going to take awhile for us to hunt down new sources for those patterns. In the meantime there are many links to patterns on our site that no longer work. We apologize if this article contains one or more of those links and appreciate your patience while we straighten things out. Thank you!

PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest does not sell or otherwise provide patterns directly. We showcase patterns and projects from various vendors, bloggers and other sources. Please make a note of where you access a pattern (the link in the yellow box toward the end of each Quilting Digest article). That way you can contact Support for that source if you have downloading problems or other issues. Thank you!
