This Lovely Quilt is Easy Enough for Beginners
Start with a Layer Cake for a Quicker Finish!
Bright and cheerful colors are wonderful in this easy quilt. Depending on the prints you choose it can have a vintage vibe or be totally modern.
Vivid colors against a dark background will be stunning. Neutrals will be lovely, too. Start with a layer cake of 10″ squares and choose a background to set the squares off.
You can also cut squares from your stash or use leftovers from other projects. Any color theme will be great in this quilt.
While the quilt looks complicated, it’s quite simple to make, even for beginning quilters. Plus, it provides many options for both straight-line and free motion quilting designs.
The finished quilt, designed by Barbara Groves and Mary Jacobson from Me and My Sister Designs, is 63″ x 74 1/4″.
The “Around the Block” quilt pattern can be found in Easy Layer-Cake Quilts 2. The authors are known for their fresh and easy quilt designs and excellent, simplified instructions. There are several other quilts in the book that we’d love to make too.
