This Oversized Log Cabin Block Makes a Big Impact

Choose Seasonal Colors or Any Color Theme!

Turn a traditional Log Cabin block into something special by sewing up a star for the center. Standard piecing and large strips make it doable for quilters of all skill levels.

The red, white, and blue color palette makes it perfect for summer and for patriotic holidays. Green, red, and white will be lovely for Christmas. Or go with any color combination you enjoy.

The oversized block can be finished off for a table topper or wall quilt. Sew three together for a runner, four for a larger table quilt, or make several blocks for a throw or bed-sized quilt.

We played in Photoshop a bit to see the block in other colors.

Instructions are provided by the designer, Mariesa Morgan from Ten Cow Quilts, for a 16″ finished block. Included is a bonus traditional Log Cabin pattern for 7″, 14″, and 21″ finished blocks.
