Turn Pretty Scraps Into Charming Coasters
Make Some for Yourself and Others to Give!
Turn your prettiest scraps into charming little coasters. They are so easy to make and a great way to use those tiny scraps that are too precious to discard.
They make lovely gifts and one or two can even be tucked into greeting cards. Plus they’ll be fun in whatever colors and fabric styles you have on hand.
Start by sewing scraps down to batting as you would with Quilt-As-You-Go. These are freeform so there are no specific sizes or shapes to deal with. Just add pieces of the right size as you go.
The pieced and quilted batting is finished off into a coaster by stitching the backing to it right sides together (use a 3/8” seam allowance), trimming, turning, sewing the opening closed, and top-stitching around the outside edges. Tips provided by the designer make it an easy fool-proof process to create smooth circles.
Once completed, the coasters designed by Kellie from Ma & Me Designs are 4 1/2″ tall x 4 1/2″ wide.
