Turn Remnants from an Old Quilt Into a Cute Cat
New Fabric Works Nicely Too!
Do you have an old threadbare quilt that still has a few good spots? Turn them into a cute shabby chic stuffed cat. This is a great way to repurpose and expand the life of that lovely old quilt.
Of course, the stuffed cat can be made from newly pieced and quilted panels and even cut from unpieced fabric. Minky and faux fur are fun too.
Sew the cat together with machine or hand stitching, leaving rough edges for a charming primitive look. If you prefer cleaner edges you can use a buttonhole stitch around the outside or even sew the front and back with right sides together leaving a space so it can be turned.

This easy project finishes quickly, even for kids and others with little sewing experience. The cats make lovely gifts so make a few extra while you’re at it.
