Adapt This Excellent Tutorial to Fit Your Style!

These charming potholders are pretty, adaptable, and quick projects. Cotton towels are used for the batting and backing, making the potholders cushy and protective.

Start with scraps, orphan 8″ blocks, pretty prints, or fussy cut motifs. There are many ways you can design your own version of these potholders, and they can be made to suit any occasion.

Amanda Niederhauser of Jedi Craft Girl has created an excellent tutorial for Riley Blake. There are many great tips that will help you achieve polished results, whether you’re making her version or another potholder pattern.

Choose a 100% cotton towel for the batting and backing. Or go with Insul-Bright batting and a backing cut from quilt fabric, if you prefer.

Amanda used fabrics from Lori Holt’s Bee Vintage fabric line. They have such a charming old-fashioned look, as do most of Lori’s fabric collections.

In the video, Amanda demonstrates how to make a potholder from a Log Cabin block, but also shows other options. This method for making potholders is very versatile.

The completed potholders are about 8″ square.

Please make a note of where you access a pattern (the link in the yellow box toward the end of each Quilting Digest article).
