Use This Sweet Block in a Variety of Projects
It Will be Lovely in Many Color Combinations and Fabric Styles!
This pretty little block will be lovely in a variety of quilt projects. Showcase it in the center of a small quilt for your wall or table by adding interesting borders, or make several blocks for a larger project.
Soft, vintage style fabrics are so pretty in this block. It will be stunning in red and white or go with whatever color combination you prefer.
Squares and half-square triangles make up the patchwork heart. While it’s simple to make, the pieces are small so accuracy is important.
The finished block, from Pink Simplicity, is 6″ square.

It’s easy to enlarge the block. Simply increase the half-square triangles and squares to produce the size block you want. For example, half-square triangles that finish at 3″ and squares cut at 3.5″ (3″ finished) will produce an 18″ finished block.
The chart below will help you determine how large to cut the squares used to make the half-square triangles. For 3″ finished half-square triangles cut the squares at 3 7/8″.
For the square patches, simply add 1/2″ to the finished size. For 3″ finished squares cut them at 3.5″.
Refer to the chart above to determine how many you need of each.
