Or Make It Up in Eye-Catching Blues!

Classic piecing takes on a fresh look with the addition of vining applique. Birds, flowers and leaves add an endearing touch and bring this beautiful quilt to life.

Brilliant blues in a variety of hues and values are simply wonderful in this quilt. It will be stunning in other color themes as well.

Patches Of Blue Quilt Pattern

Start with a wide variety of fat eighths, paying attention to value contrasts. We can easily imagine the quilt made up in reds, or go with your favorite color.

Simple piecing produces the center. Applique the borders using whatever method you prefer. The templates are designed for fusible applique but can easily be adapted to hand or turned machine applique by adding seam allowances.

The finished quilt, designed by Nancy Rink, is 55″ x 73″. You’ll find the pattern for the “Patches of Blue” quilt in Quilts to Warm Today’s Home.

PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest has featured many patterns from vendors participating in the Craftsy Marketplace, most of which have been deleted by Craftsy. It's going to take awhile for us to hunt down new sources for those patterns. In the meantime there are many links to patterns on our site that no longer work. We apologize if this article contains one or more of those links and appreciate your patience while we straighten things out. Thank you!

PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest does not sell or otherwise provide patterns directly. We showcase patterns and projects from various vendors, bloggers and other sources. Please make a note of where you access a pattern (the link in the yellow box toward the end of each Quilting Digest article). That way you can contact Support for that source if you have downloading problems or other issues. Thank you!
