Welcome Christmas with a Vintage Appliqued Santa

Fusible Applique Makes It A Simple Project!
This cheery vintage Santa will be a wonderful addition to your Christmas decor. Make it into a wall hanging, a throw pillow, or whatever else strikes your fancy.
The Santa can also be used as a quilt block, framed by borders for a larger quilt. Or mount it on an artist’s canvas for a special piece of holiday art (with or without quilting).
The collage is constructed with fusible appliqué. One way to finish it is to layer it for quilting and stitch the fused edges down as you quilt.
A silicone fusing mat and non-stick pressing sheet are perfect for this project (and many others). Lay the paper template under the transparent fusing mat to serve as a guide, build the applique layers on the mat, and fuse them into place using the pressing sheet. Once the Santa is constructed, transfer it to the background fabric and fuse or sew it into place. This fusing mat set is nicely sized and reasonably priced.
Sew Relative Crafts provides excellent instructions for creating the Santa collage. It’s 16″ square once completed.
