5 Tips for Making Flannel Quilts
Plus a Free Flannel Quilt Pattern!
High-quality flannel comes in many colors and designs and makes charming quilts that are super cozy. Plus it’s nearly as easy to work with as quilting cotton.
There are a few things to keep in mind, though. First, always pre-wash flannel as it can shrink substantially. That’s a good thing as the flannel weave becomes tighter and more cushy with washing. A good rule of thumb is to allow up to 1/4 yard loss per yard due to shrinking and fraying (here’s a good tip for washing pre-cuts).

- Throw – 56.5″ x 68.5″
- Queen – 84.5″ x 85.5″
- King – 102.5″ x 112.5″
