Make an Easy Quilt from Vintage Linens
A Great Quilt-As-You-Go Method for Showcasing Just About Anything!
Do you have a collection of embroidered squares or vintage hankies you’d like to make into a quilt? This method is a super easy way to do that.
You can also showcase just about anything, like pretty fabric squares, orphan blocks and even doilies attached to background squares. This method works nicely when you don’t want to quilt inside the blocks, and even when you do.
Jenny, from the Missouri Star Quilt Company, demonstrates how to put those special blocks together. It’s a quilt-as-you-go technique that works beautifully for any time you want to put blocks together quickly.
In this case, 10″ layer cakes squares are used for the backing and sashing. Cut larger squares for larger blocks.
If you want to quilt inside the blocks, just do that before you stitch the backed blocks together.
Jenny does a lot of eyeballing, but feel free to measure for more accuracy between blocks.
