Great Tips for Cleaning and Oiling Your Scissors!

How long has it been since you cleaned your scissors? Have you ever cleaned your scissors? We must admit that the only time we think of cleaning ours is if they’re visibly dirty, sticky or linty.

However, periodic cleanings will keep your scissors working and looking their best for a long time to come. Once you get started you’re likely to be surprised how much residue is on them. And, they work much more smoothly when they’re clean.

Laura from Sew Very Easy provides many helpful tips for cleaning and oiling your scissors. One important tip is to use sewing machine oil (available here) instead of other oils that may come to mind.

Once your scissors are cleaned and oiled you may want to sharpen them. You’ll find several styles of scissors sharpeners here. This one from Fiskars is quite popular but look at the reviews and choose the one you like best.
