Turn a Pair of Flip Flops Into Cute Summer Sandals
Choose a Pretty Fabric to Show Off Your Toes!
Start with a pair of flip flops and remodel them into cute sandals. They’d make fun slippers, too, made with fuzzy fabric.
Choose fabric to match an outfit or just go with something you love. The sandals are simple to make so go ahead and make more than one pair.
The instructions can be adjusted to fit any pair of simple flip flops. However, the tutorial would have been better with downloadable templates. A comment from Melanie Rogers provides a fix, as well as good suggestions for a sturdier result:
“…Tips for those who want to make these correctly: trace the tie pieces from your screen. Lay a sheet of paper over your screen and draw over them to get the right shape. You might need to do some adjusting to get the right size, but at least you will have the right shape. When you get to step 6, simply run a bead of white school glue all around the edge, fold the fabric all around the edges, and iron it down the glue will dry right away and hold. Then when you get your ties in place, top stitch it all the way around. Get yourself some shoe goo glue, put it on the rubber, then press your fabric sole down on on top. Put something heavy on it, and after it dries…voila’….much better…”
