Modern Ohio Star Wall Quilt
A Stunning Quilt in Any Color Combination!
This quick and easy wall quilt derives it’s overall pattern from the careful placement of light, medium and dark fabrics. An instructor once told me that one way to add variety and interest to your work is to “keep the value, change the color.”
This quilt is a wonderful example of how different colors of the same value (on the light to dark scale) “read” as one value, adding intrigue and interest to the finished piece. Plus, large scale fabrics contribute to the modern look of the quilt and prompt closer inspection.
You’re sure to have fun going through your scraps and stash choosing fabrics to make this quilt sing!
Piecing is straight forward and simple enough for even beginning quilters. Fancy quilting is not needed, making this a quick project to complete.
The finished quilt, by designer Mary Claire Goodwin, is 36 ½˝ x 36 ½˝.
It will be a beautiful focal point on a wall, or lovely draped on a table.
The pattern is included in the June/July 2014 McCall’s Quick Quilts magazine.
