Modern Twists on an Old Favorite!

Rose of Sharon Quilts have never really gone out of style. These stunning Baltimore Album style hand appliqued quilts can take years to complete. Thankfully, today’s quilters have tools their fore-mothers didn’t, which allow us to produce stunning quilts in far less time.

These 3 beautiful quilts are machine appliqued and embroidered. They are just as striking as the original hand stitched quilts but much easier on today’s busy quilters. Many of the “pieces” are machine embroidered (rather than being appliqued), which allows for intricate designs in far less time. Learn more about each of these quilts and see variations at Craftsy.

 Roses of Remembrance

Internationally renowned quilting teacher and author Sharon Pederson, business partner Elizabeth Phillips and some of the best companies in the industry conducted a block design contest to benefit Alzheimer’s research.

Twelve winners were among the 31 blocks digitized in the Roses of Remembrance quilt series.

Traditional blanket stitch appliqué was combined with Pederson’s unique quilt-as-you-go technique to produce a stunning quilt.

PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest has featured many patterns from vendors participating in the Craftsy Marketplace, most of which have been deleted by Craftsy. It's going to take awhile for us to hunt down new sources for those patterns. In the meantime there are many links to patterns on our site that no longer work. We apologize if this article contains one or more of those links and appreciate your patience while we straighten things out. Thank you!

PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest does not sell or otherwise provide patterns directly. We showcase patterns and projects from various vendors, bloggers and other sources. Please make a note of where you access a pattern (the link in the yellow box toward the end of each Quilting Digest article). That way you can contact Support for that source if you have downloading problems or other issues. Thank you!
