Creative Ways That Tape Can Help Quilt-Making

| And One Warning!
Tape can be a huge help in quilt-making. Painter’s tape and masking tape are sticky enough to stay put on fabric but don’t leave residues or cause the fabric to pill.
While you may already be aware of using tape to mark quilting and sewing lines, there are several other uses that may be new to you.
Wendy Chow from The Weekend Quilter outlines four ways tape can help your sewing routine in the following article.
- Get more ideas for using tape in the sewing room here.
- Learn more about using tape to mark quilting lines here.
- Learn how to use tape and a ruler to create straight lines when free-motion quilting here.
- Get a pack of 1/4″, 1/2″, and 3/4″ wide painters tape here.
Warning: Do not leave tape on fabric for an extended period, such as when labeling yardage on stored fabric. Over time, the glue can leech into the fabric and discolor it.

PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest has featured many patterns from vendors participating in the Craftsy Marketplace, most of which have been deleted by Craftsy. It's going to take awhile for us to hunt down new sources for those patterns. In the meantime there are many links to patterns on our site that no longer work. We apologize if this article contains one or more of those links and appreciate your patience while we straighten things out. Thank you!
PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest does not sell or otherwise provide patterns directly. We showcase patterns and projects from various vendors, bloggers and other sources. Please make a note of where you access a pattern (the link in the yellow box toward the end of each Quilting Digest article). That way you can contact Support for that source if you have downloading problems or other issues. Thank you!
