Create a Stunning Table Runner from Simple Hexies
This Easy Project Has Many Creative Options!
Large hexies create a lovely dimensional table topper when sewn together and folded. There are several options for configuring the hexies, making this a fun project to play with.
We love the hexie shaped topper that results from 6 hexagons. It’s simple yet pretty and will be charming in many color combinations.
If you want, go ahead and make a couple more of those shapes to sew together side by side for a lovely table runner.
Or, do as the designer did and place half of a finished hexie on each side of a full hexie for a stunning and unusual design.
The starting hexies are two pieces sewn together and turned. After that it’s a simple matter of sewing the finished hexies together.
The following video from ArtsAndCrafts4you shows how it’s done.
You’ll find the hexie cutting pattern here.
I came to this wonderful page from the Facebook One Blocks Wonder forum. We love hexagons! I am so excited about this and eager to make it for Christmas and Hanukah. I think the 3D effect would also be fun or babies, or good for Alzheimer’s patients who need to fiddle with things. A pillow would also be fun!
