Nine-inch blocks repeat for a compelling overall design that will be wonderful in colors for any season. Also consider changing the background. Tan and Civil War prints would give the quilt a more rustic appeal.
The blocks can also be used in other projects. For example, three blocks and sashing will make a lovely little runner.
