They’re Thoughtful Gifts Too!

These beautiful peace doves will be a lovely addition to your home. They’re also thoughtful gifts for Christmas, New Year’s, and other occasions.

Make some up in linen, quilting cotton, or other lightweight fabric. They’re beautiful in prints as well as solid colors.

Choose between two options for the beaks. One is included with the body pieces and is an easier and quicker finish. The other version is made from a separate piece of fabric and produces a more dimensional and realistic look.

Doves on the left with separate beaks, dove on the right with built-in beak.

The wings and tail can be left plain or do some machine or hand quilting for a more decorative look. That will also flatten those parts into more realistic shapes.

Once completed the doves designed by Thread & Whisk are about 10.70″ long without the beaks when printed to scale. Our printer reduced the size to fit an 8.5″ x 11″ sheet of paper (without margins). The resulting pattern will produce a bird that’s roughly 8″ long without the beak. If you choose to do that, notice that the cutting templates for this size include a seam allowance smaller than 1/4″. You can increase that as you’re cutting out the paper templates.

PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest has featured many patterns from vendors participating in the Craftsy Marketplace, most of which have been deleted by Craftsy. It's going to take awhile for us to hunt down new sources for those patterns. In the meantime there are many links to patterns on our site that no longer work. We apologize if this article contains one or more of those links and appreciate your patience while we straighten things out. Thank you!

PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest does not sell or otherwise provide patterns directly. We showcase patterns and projects from various vendors, bloggers and other sources. Please make a note of where you access a pattern (the link in the yellow box toward the end of each Quilting Digest article). That way you can contact Support for that source if you have downloading problems or other issues. Thank you!
