The Classic Fabric Basket Reimagined
They’re Still Super Easy to Make!
Make one or a bunch of these cute baskets and vary the sizes to suit your needs. They’re great for storage in the sewing room and elsewhere around the house. Plus they make wonderful gifts.
Choose two complementary fabrics for each basket. Large buttons are lovely accents.
Connie from Freemotion by the River has taken the classic pattern created by Seaside Stitches (found here) and developed a clever way to omit the winged pockets in the corners.
Once the wings are cut off, use Connie’s method to enclose the raw edges for a polished finish. The following basket shows the corners on the outside. They could also be on the inside of the basket, depending on which look you prefer.
You’ll find Connie’s tutorial at the following link. She also provides instructions for varying the size.
Connie goes into more depth about adapting the corners in the following tutorial.
