This Machine Binding Looks Great on Both Sides
A Clever Technique Makes the Back Look as Good as the Front!
Do you dread finishing quilts because you need to hand stitch the binding? While some quilters love this step, many others would like to skip it altogether.
That’s why machine binding is so popular. However, if you’re stitching down the binding from the front, it often looks sloppy on the back. After all, you can’t see what’s happening back there as you’re feeding the quilt’s edge through the machine.
Consequently, we were excited when we found this creative technique from Sara at Heirloom Creations. It’s a little hard to describe so we’ll let the video explain.

Sara uses wash-away thread and cotton yarn to make the technique work. Amazon carries both:
The technique is a simple one. Just be sure to switch the bobbin back to regular thread once you’re done stitching the yarn down.
The video does not show how to do corners but based on a note from the link below they’re done just like any mitered binding corners. If you need a refresher, the second video at that link shows how to do standard corners.
You’ll find additional tips and how to handle corners here.
Genius! What a great technique!
thanks for the tips..
