Play with Colors and Values to Make It Your Own!
This quilt block is beautiful in its simplicity. Color and value contrasts create a design that will become increasingly complex as blocks are combined.
For an even more striking design, choose stronger contrasts, whether in color, value, or both. While we love the softness of the low-contrast example, stronger contrasts will create an eye-catching quilt.

The block is simple to make, so you can have several made quickly. It’s a great block for those times when you just want to sit and sew without having to think about it too much.

We played with Photoshop a bit to see how the block could look in a quilt, both with and without sashing. Either option will make a beautiful quilt.

Designer Stacey Lee provides instructions for a 12″ x 12″ finished block.

PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest has featured many patterns from vendors participating in the Craftsy Marketplace, most of which have been deleted by Craftsy. It's going to take awhile for us to hunt down new sources for those patterns. In the meantime there are many links to patterns on our site that no longer work. We apologize if this article contains one or more of those links and appreciate your patience while we straighten things out. Thank you! PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest does not sell or otherwise provide patterns directly. We showcase patterns and projects from various vendors, bloggers and other sources. Please make a note of where you access a pattern (the link in the yellow box toward the end of each Quilting Digest article). That way you can contact Support for that source if you have downloading problems or other issues. Thank you!
