Use a Beautiful Print in These Lovely Placemats
Choose Quilting Cotton or a Heavier Fabric!
A beautiful print and scalloped edges make these simple placemats a lovely way to dress up a table.
We love the blue and white floral print chosen by the designer as it reminds us of old china. However, any print will be wonderful so go with what you like best.
The designer suggests using a lightweight twill, canvas or linen. However, quilting cotton will work nicely too.
You may want to add fusible interfacing, fusible fleece or even lightweight fusible foam to give the cotton version body. Simply fuse the stabilizer of your choice to the back of the fabric that shows on the front of the placemats.
Then we’d be tempted to topstitch around the outside edge to create a polished finish. You may even want to add some quilting. Or not. It’s entirely up to you.
The finished placemats, designed by Spoonflower team member Suz, are 17.5″ across.
