This fun block speaks to what summer is all about. It evokes images of warm summer days and 4th of July festivities, and makes us smile every time we see it.
Make one block into a mini quilt or incorporate several in a larger project. It’s a charming design that is sure to have a place in your summer decor.
Susan from Henny Penny added a 1-1/2″ x 12-1/2″ strip to the top and bottom of the block.
Instructions are provided for the following version in the quilt pattern. It finishes at 12″ x 16″ and will be wonderful on a wall or door.

The quilt is so festive and perfect for the summer. It’s 36″ x 38″ once completed. Enjoy it displayed on a wall in a prominent place or add more blocks for a throw or bed-sized quilt.

You’ll need the quilt pattern, available below, to make the blocks.
Once completed, the block is 12″ square.
I made the Star Spangled Picnic quilt over the weekend and it turned out adorable. The instructions are easy to follow and the finished product is well worth the effort! It’s a great project for the 4th!! I’m going to make several more for family and friends.
