Add Wooden Checkers for Playing!
This super fast and easy quilt is a functional checker board. Just add playing pieces for a quick game of checkers. When you’re done, the quilt will be a lovely table topper between games, or can be rolled or folded for storage until the next time.
The checkers are wooden discs purchased at a craft store and painted to match.
The patriotic colors make it ideal for display over the summer and for use during summer holidays, or any time of the year. Feel free to make it in colors you love and that match your decor. This is also a great gift idea, so you may want to make more than one while you’re at it.
This quilt is so simple to stitch together that the instructions are only few sentences long. Start now and you can have it ready for use in a few hours.
The tutorial, from Temecula Quilt Company, is for a 10 1/2″ x 10 1/2″ quilt. You can easily make it larger if you prefer. Just increase the size of the blocks.
PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest has featured many patterns from vendors participating in the Craftsy Marketplace, most of which have been deleted by Craftsy. It's going to take awhile for us to hunt down new sources for those patterns. In the meantime there are many links to patterns on our site that no longer work. We apologize if this article contains one or more of those links and appreciate your patience while we straighten things out. Thank you!
PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest does not sell or otherwise provide patterns directly. We showcase patterns and projects from various vendors, bloggers and other sources. Please make a note of where you access a pattern (the link in the yellow box toward the end of each Quilting Digest article). That way you can contact Support for that source if you have downloading problems or other issues. Thank you!
