Create a Beautiful Bag with Butterfly Charms
The Butterfly Blocks Can be Used in Many Projects!
Charming little butterflies grace the sides of this beautiful bag. It’s not only lovely but the bag can go just about anywhere.
The butterflies can be used in other projects, as well. The bodies are paper pieced while the wings are appliqued. A satin stitch finishes off the edges beautifully.
Pockets make it easy to keep the bag organized. In fact, it makes a lovely sewing caddy but you’ll find other uses for it, as well. There’s a zippered inside pouch plus two inside pockets, and two more pockets on the outside.
The butterflies, designed by Nikki and Sari of Sariella, are 5.5” after piecing. They can be used as 5” finished blocks or trimmed to 5” for 4.5” finished squares, making them perfect for mixing with 5” charm squares.
These are the same ladies that brought us the original Butterfly Charm Blocks found here. Appliqued butterflies were used on the pocket on one side of the bag and the original butterflies were used on the other side. Feel free to mix and match the butterfly blocks however you wish.
The bag was designed by Cynthia Frenette for Robert Kaufman and measures 12” x 9-1/2” x 6-1/2”. To make the butterfly version piece blocks together to substitute for the large outside pockets.
