A Quilted Window Valance is a Delightful Touch
Patterns for a Matching Quilt, Shams, and Bedskirt are Included!
What a clever idea to use a quilt for a window valance! Choose fabrics that pick up colors in the room, or create a matching quilt from the same fabrics for a bedroom.
We love the clever hanging tabs with button accents. They could easily be added to another pattern to adapt it into a window valance.
This free pattern by designer Fabric Mosaics for American Patchwork and Quilting comes with instructions for a matching quilt, shams, and bedskirt. The set is perfect for giving your bedroom a makeover.
If pinwheels aren’t your thing, take a look at articles about narrow table runners in our table toppers category. There are several options there that could work as a valance, although you may need to alter the length to fit the window.
Another idea is to string several of your favorite quilt blocks together until you achieve the correct length. Don’t forget to take into account the width of the borders.
The finished “Pinwheels Valance” is 51″ x 16″ but you could easily add or delete pinwheels to make it fit your window.
The completed quilt is 80″ x 95″ while the bedskirt fits a queen-size bed with a 14-1/2″ drop. The pillow sham is for a standard bed pillow.
