String Table Mat Makes Good Use of Scraps

This Mat is Not Quilted so It’s a Super Fast Project!
This scrappy string table mat is a Dresden Plate without the points. That makes it easy to stitch together. Plus, since there is no batting, no quilting is needed to finish it off.
The mat is turned, then finished with an applique circle in the center. Rick rack gives the finishing touch to the outside edges.
The tutorial from The Way I Sew It is for a finished mat of about 16 inches across. The designer used an EZ Dresden Ruler and cut blades from pieced strips at the 6 1/2″ mark to create that size mat. You can go bigger or smaller by changing how long you make the blades.
PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest does not sell or otherwise provide patterns directly. We showcase patterns and projects from various vendors, bloggers and other sources. Please make a note of where you access a pattern (the link in the yellow box toward the end of each Quilting Digest article). That way you can contact Support for that source if you have downloading problems or other issues. Thank you!
