Add More Blocks to Turn the Baby Quilt Into a Throw!

This easy quilt is a great project for beginners. Simple piecing makes it a relatively quick project too.

While it was designed as a baby or toddler quilt, it can easily be made into a throw or bed-sized quilt by adding more blocks.

For the baby version, start with two packs of 5″ charm squares for easy fabric selection. Choose a print charm pack and a solid color charm pack then add a neutral color, in this case, white, to complete the design.

Or mix it up and select a combination of whatever scraps and yardage you have on hand. It’s fun to imagine the quilt in other predominant colors. For example, the solid color can be anything that works nicely with the prints while the neutral can be white, gray, black, or even a contrasting color.

The completed quilt, designed by Julie Thelen is 40″ x 54″, making it a nice size for a baby, toddler, or lap quilt.

PLEASE NOTE: Quilting Digest does not sell or otherwise provide patterns directly. We showcase patterns and projects from various vendors, bloggers and other sources. Please make a note of where you access a pattern (the link in the yellow box toward the end of each Quilting Digest article). That way you can contact Support for that source if you have downloading problems or other issues. Thank you!
